My work is focused on the systematics and phylogeny of Coleoptera and the study of biogeographic, ecological and  evolutionary patterns of biodiversity.

Currently I am working in the development and application of NGS methods to the study of biodiversity, with on-going projects dealing with soil phylobiodiversity in the West Mediterranean and Macaronesian Islands.

I am also particularly interested in the evolution and phylogeny of endogean lineages of Coleoptera, mainly Carabid beetles, the calibration of the Molecular Clock, and the methods for species delineation and integrative taxonomy.
